Lisa and Laura Roecker: In the Fort with the Bookanistas!

Today in The Fort we have Lisa and Laura Roecker, also know as LiLa, otherwise known as FREAKING HILARIOUS.

Because of my deadline, I haven't finished LIAR SOCIETY, but I've started, and y'all. It's like Nancy Drew on speed. In a good way. YOU SHOULD READ IT.

Lisa and Laura Roecker are sisters-turned-writing-partners with a love of all things Young Adult. Some call it arrested development, but the sisters claim it keeps them young. Plus, it’s cheaper than Botox. Lisa and Laura live in Cleveland, Ohio in separate residences. Their husbands wouldn't agree to a duplex. THE LIAR SOCIETY is their first novel. Kate Lowry's best friend Grace died a year ago. So when she gets an email from her, Kate's more than a little confused.

Subject: (no subject)
I'm here... sort of.
Find Cameron. He knows.
I shouldn't be writing.
Don't tell. They'll hurt you.

Now Kate has no choice but to prove once and for all that Grace's death was more than just a tragic accident. She teams up with a couple of knights-in-(not-so)-shining armor-the dangerously hot bad boy, Liam, and her lovestruck neighbor, Seth. But at their elite private school, there are secrets so big people will do anything to protect them-even if it means getting rid of anyone trying to solve a murder...

Favorite comfort food?
Twizzlers, even though we recently learned that 9 Twizzlers have the same amount of calories as a Wendy's double stack burger. Not so comfortable anymore.

(NO FREAKING WAY. There goes my editing food.)

Favorite game?
Tennis. We both pretty much suck, but it's so much fun.

Flannel, fleece or Snuggie?
Fleece, but that's only because we don't own Snuggies. If we had them, we would wear them. We're very cold people.

If you had to choose Snuggie, which color would you pick?
PINK all the way!

Fluffy socks or slippers?

Favorite fall drink?
Hot apple cider.

Ghost story or no? Do you remember any from slumber parties past?
No. We're terrified of ghosts. We used to watch Amazing Stories on TV when we were little and even that freaked us out.

Truth? Or dare?
Truth. We'll basically tell anybody anything. We don't have a dare devil bone in our body.

What singer/musician/band is a must have for The Fort soundtrack?
Laura says Ray LaMontagne. Lisa says The Beatles.

What movie would you bring to watch?
Anything with Will Ferrell in it because he's hilarious.

Who's the ideal mascot (usually cute boys, or one time, a unicorn, and that other time, Sue Sylvester)  for The Fort and why?
Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights.

Marshmallows, lightly toasted or burned to a crisp?
Burned to a crisp.

Awake all night or first one to sleep?
Lisa is awake all night. Laura is first one to sleep. She's been known to nod off during concerts and at bars.

If awake all night, innocent practical joke or no?
Always innocent. *hands up in the air*

If you could have any YA author visit The Fort and tell stories, who would it be and what story would you ask them to tell?
Jandy Nelson. We'd like to know her inspiration behind The Sky Is Everywhere, even though I'm sure it'd make us cry.

Here's what the rest of the Bookanistas are up to today! And check it, more than one opportunity to win LIAR SOCIETY!

  1. Yay for Will Ferrell movies and the Beatles!
I knew this would be a fun Fort interview! Looking forward to reading their book!

  2. Nice mascot choice. I APPROVE.

  3. I love the cover and the premise. I'll have to pick this one up!

  4. Excellent mascot choice! Great interview ladies. A copy of The Liar Society is on its way to me from B&N now!

  5. Great interview, Myra! You are gonna love the way Liar Society wraps up.

And LiLa, I think I love y'all even more now. I eat my marshmallows cremated, and my love for Tim Riggins know no bounds. Go, 33! ;)

  6. Love love love! I now have a beautiful image of the Roecker sisters playing tennis with twizzlers dangling from their mouths. Such a fun duo!

Loved your comparison, by the way: Nancy Drew on speed. Ha! Such a great character.

  7. What a great interview! We must send them snuggies!

  8. Okay, you said two words that made me love you ladies ten times more than I already do: Tim Riggins. LOVE him--like, in a way that borders on obsession. :)
