Lisa Desrochers: Friday in the Fort

I am SO EXCITED to have my VERY FIRST ELEVENSIE, Lisa Desrochers, in The Fort! She is such a sweetheart, and I appreciate the way she's blazed a trail and led by example for the rest of us newbies.

And I am SO EXCITED to read PERSONAL DEMONS! And you will be SO EXCITED when you hear about the hot heroes in Lisa's book! I suggest you visit Lisa's blog and check out some of the teaser trailers for PERSONAL DEMONS. But do it at the end. AT THE END! Or you'll get so absorbed you won't come back, and that just won't do, because there are PRIZES.

About Lisa: Lisa lives in central California with her husband and two very busy daughters. There is never a time that she can be found without a book in her hand, and she adores stories that take her to new places, and then take her by surprise. Growing up all over the country has inspired wanderlust and she loves travel, which works out well as she lectures internationally on a variety of health care topics. She has a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and maintains a full time practice.

About PERSONAL DEMONS: Frannie Cavanaugh is a good Catholic girl with a wicked streak. She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance—even her closest friends—and it seems her senior year will be more of the same...until Luc Cain enrolls in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can't seem to stay away from him. What she doesn't know is that Luc works in Acquisitions—for Hell—and she possesses a unique skill set that has the king of Hell tingling with anticipation. All Luc has to do is get her to sin, and he’s as tempting as they come.

Frannie doesn’t stand a chance.

Unfortunately for Luc, Heaven has other plans, and the angel, Gabe, is going to do whatever it takes to make sure that Luc doesn’t get what he came for. And it isn't long before they find themselves fighting for more than just her soul.

But if Luc fails, there will be Hell to pay…for all of them.

Favorite comfort food?
Cupcakes. Vanilla with tons of buttercream frosting. I know it’s cliché, but I’m a sugar addict. Course, I’d take lobster with butter and lemon too. But not at the same time as the cupcakes, cuz that actually sounds a little gross.

Favorite game?
Bubbles! I LOVE bubbles! Especially with those really big loops so you can make ginormous ones. I always picture myself floating away in one—like on the cover of MATCHED by Ally Condie. If you see me floating around, pop my bubble please. =)

Sun worshipper, spray tan or SPF 50?
SPF 50 and THEN sun worshipper. At my age, skin petrifies if left in the sun too long. O_O

Beach or lake? Boat or shore?
That’s hard, but I’d have to say lake. I’m really not one who likes to be IN the water, but I love to be around it—so I guess that’d be shore. But, then again, I love to listen to the waves crashing on the beach…so that’s beach, right? OMG! I’m so confused… O_o

Air conditioning or open windows?
Open windows, except when it’s 115 outside (which it gets to be at my house in the summer) cuz medium rare is only good for burgers.

Favorite summer drink?
Green iced tea with tons of lemon. Though my kids make fresh squeezed lemonade from the tree in our yard that is seriously kickass.

Ghost story or Truth or Dare?
Ghost story. The creepier the better. I gage how good a ghost story is by how big my goose bumps are and how long they last.

Truth? Or dare?
Dare. As long as it doesn’t involve worms or bodily secretions, then it’d be truth for sure.

What singer/musician/band is a must have for The Fort soundtrack?
The Fray—or Saving Abel. Can’t live without either of them. Plus Jared Weeks (Saving Abel) is pretty darn close to how my MC, Luc, looks… Veerrrrry nice.

What movie would you bring to watch?
The Princess Bride. “As you wish….” Best line evah! Plus, Inigo Montoya!! “I am Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” Gotta love Mandy! Pure genius! And the ROUSs would go great with the ghost stories!! I haven’t watched that movie in like 15 years.

Who's the ideal male mascot for The Fort and why?
Timothy Olyphant because he’s…well…Timothy Olyphant. But also because yes, that’s a gun in his pocket, and yes, he’s very happy to see you.

Marshmallows, lightly toasted or burned to a crisp?
I’m a marshmallow perfectionist. It’s a family joke. Golden brown all around (even the ends). And it HAS to be soft in the middle. When you burn them the graham crackers break cuz the middle’s not squishy. Gotta have a squishy middle.

Awake all night or first one to sleep?
Awake all night. I lose track of time, especially when I’m tweeting with all my fab tweeples.

If awake all night, practical joke or no?
I’m always up for a good practical joke, and since I’m the last asleep, I know it’s never going to be on me, so the nastier the better. Bwahahahaha.

If you could have any YA author visit the fort and tell stories, who would it be and what story would you ask them to tell?
Easy. Melissa Marr. Not only is she my very fave, but I find her fascinating as a person. (Not in a weird, stalkerish way. Promise. :p) I’d love to hear the story of Iri and Niall from the beginning. I’m a total Iri and Niall fan girl. *swoons*

  46. I'm definitely a marshmallow snob. Not that I mind too much if the thing's crispy, but when I make them, they have to be perfect.

Ooooh, and I love Timothy! I love Saving Abel, too, but they bailed on a visit to my naval base so after walking a couple miles to see them, they weren't there. Little ticked at them 'bout that, but their music is still great.

  47. I also love Melissa Marr. She's too cool.

I can't wait for the release of PD.
