Tiffany Trent lives at the beach and writes all manner of dark YA goodness. Her first book, In the Serpent’s Coils (part of the Hallowmere series), was named a 2007 IndieBound Fall Pick and a 2008 Book of the Teen Age by the New York Public Library. She also won the 2008 SCBWI Work-in-Progress grant for her (still in-progress) fantasy involving Charles Darwin. Her YA steampunkish novel THE UNNATURALISTS is forthcoming from Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. When not writing, she’s out chasing bears with her wildlife biologist husband.
Tiffany is one of my favorite people. She's uber smart, super funny, and genuinely just a joy to know. Welcome her to The Fort!!!
Favorite comfort food? Chinese steamed dumplings w/black vinegar. Or some decadent fruity dessert. Or chocolate...Whichever is most handy.
Favorite game? When I was a teen, my martial arts school made up a game where we played football in the dark with a glowing lightstick. A wonder we didn’t kill each other, but still my fave!
Sun worshipper, spray tan or SPF 50? SPF 50. Got to preserve that alabaster skin. LOL.
Beach or lake? Boat or shore? Erm…I live at the beach. Mountains!
Air conditioning or open windows? If it’s not boiling out or a green fog of pollen, open windows. Otherwise, air con.
Favorite summer drink? Firefly lemonade ;)
Ghost story or Truth or Dare? Ghost story!
Truth? Or dare? Dare!
What singer/musician/band is a must have for The Fort soundtrack? Sia for when we’re feeling chill.
(Myra Note: WHAT ABOUT DURAN DURAN, TIFFANY???)
What movie would you bring to watch? Labyrinth. Or Legend. Or Real Genius.
Who's the ideal male mascot for the fort and why? Probably a small male unicorn. I really know nothing about the world of male mascots these days.
Marshmallows, lightly toasted or burned to a crisp? Burninated. Still on fire right before I put them in my mouth! Esp. fun to do w/Peeps!
Awake all night or first one to sleep? Party all night! *koff*
If awake all night, practical joke or no? Oh yes…If I told you, then it wouldn’t be as fun, right?
If you could have any YA author visit the fort and tell stories, who would it be and what story would you ask them to tell?
Patricia McKillip. Absolutely anything she wanted to say. :)
Now, because Tiffany is awesome - hey. HEY. STOP LOOKING AT THE UNICORN. *ahem* Because Tiffany is awesome, she's giving away a free copy of Breaking Waves. I HIGHLY suggest you consider buying it, because all proceeds go to Gulf Coast Oil Spill relief.
