Friday in the Fort with Kristin O'Donnell Tubb

Today Kristin O'Donnell Tubb is hangin' in The Fort!

Kristin holds a special place in my heart. She was one of the first writers for kids I ever met, and she recognized the terror in my eyes and listened as I asked questions. She was exceedingly kind and gracious with her answers.

She is also the RIDICULOUSLY TALENTED author of Autumn Winifred Oliver Does Things Different, which was selected by the Tennessee State Library to represent the State of Tennessee at the 2009 National Book Festival! Her next book is Selling Hope, available Fall 2010 from Feiwel & Friends.

Thanks for inviting me to the Fort, Myra! *shifts eyes from Myra to the Men of the Fort behind her* *waggles eyebrows at the now-18 Taylor Lautner in what what probably reads as ultra-creepy rather than sexy*

Favorite comfort food?

Lasagna. And none of that veggie stuff. Meat, cheese, sauce and noodles.

Favorite game (think snowy, below wind chill day)?

Trivial Pursuit. Though I've been spending a lot of time in Candyland these days...

Fleece, flannel, chenille or Snuggie?

Fleece leggings = best invention since cooler-on-wheels

If Snuggie, what color?

Leopard, of course

Fluffy socks or slippers?

Fluffy blue socks that feel like whipped cream for your feet (which sounds gushy and gross, but they're magnificent)

Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?

I'm a Tall Cafe Mocha kind of gal.

Ghost story or Truth or Dare?

Ghost story! (And the more teens in cars and hooks for hands, the better!)

Truth? Or dare?

Ugh. Truth. I stink at dares.

What singer/musician/band is a must have for The Fort soundtrack?

Sting and/or all the Police

What movie would you bring to watch?

Cannonball Run. I'm a sucker for all things late 70s/early 80s.

Who's the ideal male mascot for the fort and why?

My dog Lucky. He sits, stands and shakes on command. 'Nuff said. ;-)

Marshmallows, lightly toasted or burned to a crisp?

I lean toward lightly toasted.

Awake all night or first one to sleep?

First one to sleep (unfortunately)

If awake all night, practical joke or no (and what kind)?

Absolutely practical jokes! I was always a fan of writing things backwards on skin/drawing in fake mustaches.

If you could have any YA author visit the fort and tell stories, who would it be and what story would you ask them to tell?

Judy Blume. I'd ask her to tell her thoughts on being one of the most-banned authors in the United States. And then I'd hug her and tell her thank you for her honesty to tweens and teens.

Thank you muchly for visiting The Fort!!

Thanks for having me, Myra! *starts popcorn-throwing war*
